More Bunting

I have a friend who makes beautiful beaded jewellery.

 Another friend makes delicious jams, chutneys & sweets.

And they asked me to make some bunting to hang on their stalls when they go to craft fairs.

Jam Jar Tealight Holder

When I visited the wonderful Reloved shop in Wareham I got lots of ideas for things that I could make. This is one of them. I had to buy some garden wire for one of my daughter's art homework projects, which meant that I then had everything that  I needed to give this a go.

I cut a length of wire and I made a loop about about 1/4 of the way along it. The handle would eventually attach to this loop.

I wrapped the wire around the rim of a jar, making a knot on the opposite side if the jar to the loop that I'd made earlier. The long length of wire was then attached to the other loop and all the short ends trimmed off. The joins were a bit messy but not bad for a first attempt.  

I gathered some offcuts of fabric, some of which were donated by mum. Using pinking shears I cut thin strips of different fabric.

I tied them to the wire handles, which hid the messy wire work.

Hanging in the tree, containing a tea-light candle,  in time for the evening's barbecue.

Coaster Wall Art

My friend bought me a rather lovely coaster for Christmas. Far too  good to stand a cup of tea on I thought.

Then the other day I rediscovered my glue gun in the cupboard which gave me an idea. 

I ordered some hooks on-line and attached one to the back of the coaster.

And now it's hanging on the wall in my newly decorated Cup of Tea themed kitchen.

Getting Ready for Summer 2012

 I'm looking forward to the Summer.

I have some new Union Jack bunting to put up for the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

I have a new Union Jack mug so that I can sit down and watch the London 2012 Olympics with a a nice cup of tea.

But most importantly for a British summer - I have a new pair of Union Jack wellies!

Weekend in Wareham

We've just got back from an Easter break in Wareham Dorset. It's a lovely old Saxon town with some great shops the like of which I don't have locally at home.

Firstly the knitting shop run by a lovely lady who couldn't believe that I had to buy wool on the internet and didn't  take card payments because it's too modern.

I added to my stash.

Re-loved, an amazing shop full of amazing vintage things. It had everything in it, kitchen stuff, books, tools,  garden things and so much more. All the price tags were old jigsaw pieces which was a nice touch. I got lots of ideas of things to make or make over.

I added to my ladybirdbook collection

 and bought a pretty cup & saucer.

After all that shopping I needed a nice cup of tea and a sit down.

So,  last but not least Nellie Crumb, possibly the best cup of tea shop I've visited. An open fire,  fantastic cup of tea, great food and they serve London Pride as well as local beers. 

Instant Garden Feature

It's a glorious weekend and my thoughts turn to the garden. These Narcissus Tete a Tete were £1 a pot and 3 for 2 using my garden centre loyalty card. I'd bought this barrel in the January sale but not done anything with it yet. Upside down it makes a perfect pace to stand the narcissus pots for an instant feature and spring time colour.   

A bit of DIY

I'm catching up on a few jobs around the house at the moment so there's not much time for art and craft. The first thing I needed to do was replace the runners on one of the kitchen draws. The draw had been sitting on the kitchen table for a couple of weeks.

I've never replaced a draw runner before. It took ages and I had to do a lot of marking, attaching and detaching before I got the new runners in the right place. 

Bea- Bea decided to help out.

Job done, all ready to be cleaned up and re-filled.
